Traditions & Concepts 3 & 4 | Sponsored by District 16

We have booked exciting and knowledgeable facilitators to bring historical context and current revelancy to these principles that are so vital to AA's success!

Tradition 3: The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
Concept 3: As a traditional means of creating and maintaining a clearly defined working relation between the groups, the Conference, the AA General Service Board and it's several ser-vice corporations, staffs, committee and executives, and of thus insuring their effective leadership, it is here suggest that we endow each of these elements of world service with traditional "Right of Decision".
Tradition 4: Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or AA as a whole.
Concept 4: At all responsible levels, we ought to maintain a traditional "Right of Participation", allowing a voting representation in reasonable proportion to the responsibility that each must discharge.

District 16 monthly General Service meeting

Wednesday at 7 p.m. (General Service meetings are on the third Wednesday of each month.)

AVAILABLE SERVICE POSITIONS
Officers (Elected positions):
Local District Committee Member, Area C: Generally as described in the AA Service Manual (under Alt. DCM.) LDCM-C covers Applegate, Butte Falls, Central Point, Eagle Point, Gold Hill, Jacksonville, Prospect, Rogue River, Ruch & White City.
* Recommended completion of a GSR term;
* Attend and report at monthly District meetings;
* Perform duties of DCM in DCM's absence;
* Assist DCM as needed Attend quarterly Oregon Area assemblies;
* Assist GSRs when needed at group meetings;
* Visit with groups within their sub-district and make announcements when necessary;
* Assist DCM with updating District roster;
* Assist DCM with processing of Conference agenda items and reports at the District level.
Alternate Treasurer: Recommended completion of a GSR term and a solid period of sobriety.
* Attends monthly District Meeting;
* Has key to P.O. Box;
* Is signatory on District checking account;
* Audits District books every six months and provides a report at the District meeting;
* Fulfills functions of the Treasurer in the event the Treasurer is unable or unwilling to perform duties.
Appointed positions:
Access chair: The purpose of the Access Committee is to gather information and shared experience from GSO, areas, districts and AA groups on ways to carry the message of AA to the still-suffering alcoholic or current members with access/special needs and to communicate that information to the groups, districts and service committees. Attend and report at monthly District meetings.
One year of sobriety or completion of a GSR term is recommended for most these positions.

Area 58 Quarterly Assembly | All you need is an open mind

Quarters for Quarterly
The host committee is asking the groups of District 16 to help support the February 2019 Service Assembly through group contributions. The Quarters for Quarterly cans will be passed out soon. Your GSR will have more information about this fund drive later in April.

Scholarships are available for GSRs whose meetings cannot reimburse their expenses. Ask for details at the next General Service meeting or email our DCM.

Archives chair: The purpose of the Archives Committee is more than mere custodial activity; it is the means by which we collect, preserve and share the rich and meaningful heritage of our fellowship. The Archives Committee is to receive, classify and index all relevant material, including, but not limited to, administrative files, records, correspondence, literary works and artifacts considered to have importance to Alcoholics Anonymous. This is done through workshops, presentations, mailings, etc. Report at monthly District meetings District 16 archives are stored at the Medford Alano Club.
One year of sobriety or completion of a GSR term is recommended for most these positions.
